DESCRIPTION:The Louisiana Tech School of Design is pleased to announce the second of two opening receptions and thesis presentations for our 2016 graduating MFA candidates. These exhibitions and presentations are presented in partial fulfillment of requirements for completion of the Masters of Fine Arts Degrees in Studio Art and Graphic Design.\n\n“GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS”\n\nExhibition Dates: April 18-25\, 2016\n\nOpening Reception Monday\, April 18\, 2016 6pm\n\nGraduate Thesis Presentations and Q and A\, 5pm\n\nF Jay Taylor VAC 103\n\nAll events are free\, accessible and open to the public. Opening reception will have refreshments provided. Thanks to Ponchatoulas for the donation.\n\nExhibition Viewing:\n\nBethea and Moffett Gallery hours: 9-4pm M-F and by appointment.\n\nThe 2016 Thesis Exhibition “Girls Girls Girls” will feature work by Masters of Fine Arts candidates Whitney Trisler Causey (MFA Studio-painting)\, Elaine Guillot (MFA-graphic design)\, Megan Smith (MFA Studio-ceramics)\, and Tess Stickney (MFA-painting). The exhibit opens on Monday\, April 18 at 6pm\, with Thesis Presentations at 5pm in VAC 103. Candidates will discuss their thesis work\, creative practice\, and contemporary context with an audience driven Q and A to follow.

DESCRIPTION:Performative Surfaces: Structural Solutions for a Changing World\nLecture by Craig Schwitter\n\nMonday\, 18 April\n\nFj Taylor Visual Arts Center\, Room 103\n\nThe School of Design is happy to welcome Craig Schwitter to the Louisiana Tech University campus.\n\nCraig Schwitter is a structural engineer and principal of BuroHappold Engineering in New York City. BuroHappold is known for their ingenious engineering solutions for some of the most daring buildings being constructed today. As an international firm\, BuroHappold has work with world renowned architects on iconic building across the globe\, emphasizing unique structural systems\, green solutions\, and integrated design. Mr. Schwitter established the first BuroHappold office in the United States\, and also is an associate professor at Columbia University. Mr. Schwitter will lecturer on the future of engineering in architecture\, with a specific focus on performative building envelopes.
