LATECH School of Design making a “Mosaic” for MedCamps
On Monday March 21, 2022, at 3pm MedCamps of Louisiana and the Louisiana Tech School of Design will break ground on a new art cabin for Camp Alabama. The ARCH 335 Design Build studio, in their ninth year of partnership with MedCamps of Louisiana, has designed and will build this eagerly-anticipated new addition to the facility.
MedCamps of Louisiana is a non-profit organization that provides a series of one-week, fun-filled camps each summer for children in Louisiana facing a variety of physical and mental disabilities. The camps are operated completely free of charge and provide campers with an opportunity to participate in traditional camping activities such as canoeing, fishing, swimming, horseback riding, and much more in a modified setting to meet the needs of each camper. All camping sessions are held at Camp Alabama in Choudrant-Sibley, Louisiana. Art projects are an integral part of the summer camp experience. This new facility “Mosaic” will give these activities a new dedicated space and create an inspiring new landmark at Camp Alabama.
The groundbreaking ceremony will be held at Camp Alabama, 2090 Hwy 145, Choudrant, LA 71227 at 3pm on Monday, March 21. If you would like to help this project by making a financial contribution or for more information, please contact the MedCamps office at 318-329-8405 or visit online at
