NCLAC and Artist Alliance members Jenna Fincher and Marguerite Hogue present their three-dimensional exhibit Inland. Inland opens this Thursday January 29 at 202 North Vienna, Ruston, LA. The reception is from 6pm-9pm. Additional viewings are available by appointment this Friday & Saturday.
Both Fincher and Hogue were born in the New Orleans area, and grew up in South Louisiana. The landscape and lifestyle of South Louisiana is a part of them, and the transition to North Louisiana has caused feelings of tension, displacement, and adaptation. These sensations have translated visually into their three-dimensional work. Inland features two collaborative works, Coordinated Efforts and Strandline. The exhibit also features several independent works of art.
Both artists are active executive members of Artist Alliance, a collaborative Ruston based organization aimed at advancing the arts in this small town. They are also both NCLAC members and participate in NCLAC events such as Holiday Arts Tour. Hogue is a senior at Louisiana Tech University and is working on her BFA in studio art. She has an extensive local exhibition history in Ruston and Monroe, and has won several awards, including a Best in Show. Fincher is a third year graduate student working on her MFA in studio art. She has shown her work across Louisiana in Houma, Thibodaux, Ruston, Monroe, and New Orleans. In March, Fincher will have a solo show in Jonesboro at the Jackson Parish Museum. Fincher has also won several awards including a Best in Show.
