Extreme Happiness and Excitability

15 February – 15 March, Louisiana Tech University Enterprise Center

Opening: Friday, 15 February from 6p-8p

The Enterprise Center Gallery is honored and humbled to host an exhibition of paintings by Whitney Trisler CauseyAssistant Professor of Art at Louisiana Tech University. The exhibition is an ongoing series of painted portraits of children who have been diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome (AS). Angelman syndrome is a rare neurogenetic disorder that affects approximately one in 15,000 people – about 500,000 individuals worldwide. On September 25th, 2017 Causey’s daughter was diagnosed with AS. In the time since then Causey has been a fierce advocate for her child and other families of those affected by AS. This series of portraits represents a fraction of the faces of children who were also diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome in the same year, whose families have become part of a greater network and community of support for those affected by AS. In an effort to promote awareness and honor these children, as well as celebrate the artist of this beautiful work, we invite everyone to join us for an opening reception on Friday, February 15th, which is International Angelman Syndrome Awareness Day. This event is family friendly, free, and open to the public.
