Sculpture / Installation Mix Media
The recent installation at Turbo Goat in downtown Ruston is the creation of Louisiana Tech Architecture graduate student James Lamb. James produced the work in response to a sculpture / installation mix media curriculum assignment in Art 541, a studio sculpture class offered in the School of Art.
The large-scale panel work, designed for and presented in a public space, is comprised of a field of partially opened cocktail umbrellas that produce a pixilated image. An optic illusion due to scale and distancing keeps the imagery in an abstracted state. Without the benefit of physical distancing from the work, a condensed viewing through a camera lens or mirrored reflection provides the viewer with a clear and distinct reading of the content specific image.
