Assistant Professor(s) in Architectural Design

 

Position

TheSchool of DesignatLouisianaTechUniversityisseekingcandidatestofillone or more tenure-trackteachingpositionsatthe rank ofassistantprofessor,beginningSeptember2019(pendingbudgetaryapproval).Primaryteachingresponsibilitieswillincludeinstructioninboth foundation and upper-levelundergraduate/graduatedesignstudios.Additionalconsiderationwillbegivenfortheabilitytoteachsupportcourseworkinarchitecturalhistory & theory,digital fabrication, tectonic assemblies, and integrated design.Additionalresponsibilitieswillincludeadvising students, serving on departmental and school committees,and engage in related university service and outreach.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Candidatesmusthaveaprofessionaldegreeinarchitecture (B. Arch or M. Arch) anddemonstratethepotentialforexecutinganagendaofresearchand/orcreativework.Previousteachingand professionalpracticeexperiencearerequired;professionallicensure or a Ph.D.ispreferred. Particularly, we encourage candidates with an interest in multi-disciplinary research and collaborations, and an ability to integrate digital tools like Adobe CC, AutoCAD, and 3D modelling softwares such as Rhino, Grasshopper, and Revit. In addition to a strong background in architecture, applicants should also have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching in the design studio and in seminar and/or lecture/lab courses in their area(s) of expertise.

The Architecture Programisanacademicunitwithin the School of Design and the College of Liberal Arts. The program offersapre-professionalB.S.inArchitecturalStudiesdegree, andaNAAB-accredited professionalMasterofArchitecturedegree.Theprogramiscommittedtoprovidingacomprehensiveanduncompromising,balancedanddemandingeducationintheart,craft,andpracticeofethicalbuildingthroughthepolytechnictraditionof”hands-on”experiencesandempiricallearningthatpreparesanindividualtobeanarchitectinthefullestsenseoftheterm.
