Jonathan Donehoo Retires

Jonathan Donehoo, who has been associated with Louisiana Tech University for over 30 years, has formally announced his retirement effective January 4, 2013. Professor Donehoo received is MFA in Graphic Design from Louisiana Tech in 1980 and began his academic career as the Head of the Commercial Art at East Tennessee State University thereafter. In 1985, Jonathan became a full time faculty member and Program Coordinator for Graphic Design here at Louisiana Tech University. He was tenured in 1987 and was promoted to Full Professor in 1990. Jonathan has served as the Director of the School of Art since 2006.

In addition to developing a nationally recognized undergraduate & graduate program in Graphic Design, Professor Donehoo has also produced large body of design and photographic works which have been exhibited across the region and country. His impact in the classroom has been significant and can still be measured when one looks at the number of professional and award-winning designers he has educated through the years. Jonathan has also played a major role in producing future teachers within the MFA program. Many of his former MFA students hold faculty positions at Colleges & Universities all over the United States including, Auburn University, Mississippi State University, Illinois State University, Minnesota State University, Old Dominion University, University of Arkansas, University of Alabama, and many more. Jonathan Donehoo has been instrumental in coordinating two of our University’s most successful travel abroad programs as both a professor and Director for Tech Rome & The French Quarter Program.

Professor Donehoo has been a key academic touch point, advisor, and mentor to thousands of students at Louisiana Tech University. In recognition of his life-long commitment to art education, Jonathan Donehoo was promoted to the title of Emeritus Professor / Emeritus Director of the School of Art at an event held in University Hall.
