Hatch Show Print Exhibit and Workshop
Printmaker, Jim Sherraden from Hatch Show Print in Nashville, TN visited the Louisiana Tech University School of Art this week for a series of lectures and letterpress workshops, which coincided with a major exhibition in the School of Art’s Main Gallery. Hatch Show Print is a letterpress design and print shop that has been in business since 1879 and has built a strong reputation throughout the design and entertainment industries for its hand printed letterpress concert posters and album cover designs. Additionally designs by Hatch have been licensed to companies such as Pixar, Nike, Jack Daniels and CNN.
The current exhibition in the Main Gallery features historical pieces from Hatch’s archive of carnival, Vaudeville, minstrel and circus promotional posters, as well as its contemporary letterpress concert posters for current touring bands, such as Arcade Fire and Old Crow Medicine Show.
The Hatch Show Print exhibition in the Main Gallery as well as a solo exhibition in Bellocq Gallery of photographs by Texas photographer Susan Mullally are on view at the Louisiana Tech University School of Art through March 20th. The galleries are open Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
